Whitney Biennial 2017
Dan Fox | Frieze | 14th March 2017
The Whitney Biennale is America’s premier event showcasing contemporary art. Discontent with current US politics is a major theme – Jerry Saltz calls it the “most politically charged” show in decades. This writer thinks there is a broader range of animating issues but still agrees with Saltz, kind-of. The show “[doesn’t] trumpet an overarching theme. Yet it’s impossible not to read it as a state-of-the-nation exegesis.”
