TJ Cobden Sanderson was an Arts and Crafts bookbinder who, with a partner, established the high end Doves Press in 1901. He also designed the renowned Doves Type as its signature typeface. After falling out with his partner, Cobden Sanderson threw the metal type in the Thames near Hammersmith. After 100 years the typeface has been digitally recreated and, unbelievably, divers have retrieved the metal punches exactly where they were dumped
