When Calder Met Calatrava: Multum in Parvo

Calder studied engineering but it was only when he visited Mondrian’s studio in Paris that he started thinking about moving sculptures. (Marcel Duchamp later supplied the name ‘mobiles’.) A big retrospective of his work is coming up late this year in London which perhaps has prompted this commercial gallery show.
