Can an artist simultaneously be a great artist and a profit maximizing professional? Some high profile artists are viewed as demonstrating the “no” case. Perhaps corporatizing trends in the art world are giving this anxiety some current impetus. One does wonder, however, if the ‘solitary genius’ is any more inclined to compromise on their art than they ever were?
