Mirrors, vitrines and steel: Reflections on Jeff Koons retrospective at Guggenheim Bilbao

Jeff Koons affects some people like fingernails scratching a blackboard. “[A]n artist … transparently on the make” fumed Robert Hughes. Still, some curators think Koons is the real deal and when this show was at the Pompidou in Paris it broke all attendance records. The reviewer tries to give credit where credit is due and his verdict has nuance – “… perhaps there is more craft than art in this 40 year show.”
