Dubuffet makes a comeback

Opinions differ about Jean Dubuffet. His “art brut” style found favour among critics, notably the American Clement Greenberg. However, not everyone was smitten. Richard Serra, for example, complained about his “primitivism that rings false because it’s too calculated”.
