The Easel

Rachel Spence

After completing a Masters degree in Literature in English at Queen Mary’s College, London, Rachel moved to Venice.  Finding herself in an apartment full of art books, she set about reading her way “around the walls”. Her conversion to the world of art was complete and, since 2005, she has been writing regularly for the Financial Times. She focuses on contemporary, modern and pre-modern art. In addition, her writing also appears in Art Quarterly. In autumn 2016, her poetry pamphlet, Furies, was published by Templar Poetry. Many of her poems are inspired by art.
